Ubuntu rocks
Hi guys,
Long time since i have bloged
now in UBUNTU i feel like i am in heaven,
Here is a screen shot of my desktop (I hope all like it). It was very easy to install the base system(Used DVD),it took me just 25 minutes(Pentium-D 805 , 512 DDRII) but other destros took nearly 1 hour and some minutes .I liked it because of it’s simplicity and pre-configured settings.Gnome rocks ,it is a simple yet powerful desktop environment .Then installing some general programs like amarok, mplayer, realplayer was just like child’s play “sudo apt-get install …” . But i couldn’t have done this without my friend’s help Qwerty Maniac(Harsh) and the Ubuntu documentation.Clearly this is a distro meant for beginners to start with. But once you start working you won’t care for any other distro,it is damn addictive.I would like every body to use it .Visit here for more details on Ubuntu.
bye,
Signing off,
Hari
PS:If any spelling errors please forgive me.
Yeah, Ubuntu is very nice and polished.
I’ve got a lot of Linux tips (including a lot of Ubuntu stuff since that’s what I use at home) on my new Linux site: “Tux in a Row”. Check it out if you like.

I see Ubuntu being used everywhere! I have a cd lying around somewhere and one of these days I’m going to try it out myself!

Ooh !
Welcome to the Ubuntu Community mate
I’ve been with Ubuntu since the early 6.06. and have done about 4 re-installations… ( My windows HDD crashed 2 times )
I’m yet to successfully install and boot Ubuntu from an external HDD.
And yea, Gnome sure does rock.. Simple and elegant..
Btw, have you tried SuSE 10.2 ?

No but saw it running on my friend’s system the task bar was good and they made a good use of KDE (it was light) and yast was faster than 10.1
